Your phone pings and you see a notification that the new iPhone 16 has launched with all its glory. But it’s not the time yet to upgrade for you as your trusty iPhone 13 is still running perfectly fine and takes care of all your needs. You keep your phone aside and go back to your work. However, disaster strikes once you come back to your phone after a couple of minutes to check the time.
Your screen is fully white and nothing is working. Your phone is completely frozen and it is not even turning off. Well not to worry below we have listed 3 ways to fix iPhone White Screen issues in minutes.
1. Force Restart your iPhone
This is the first path you should take if any problems arise with your iPhone and that is to do the Force Restart. Performing the force restart is very easy. Below we have listed the 3 steps needed to perform the force restart:
- Press and release the volume up button quickly
- As soon as you release the volume up button, quickly press and release the volume down button
- After that press and hold the power button for 10 seconds or until you see the apple logo on your screen
This should hopefully fix the White Screen issue for the majority of you. However if it did not, don’t worry we still have 2 more ways through which it should get fixed.
2. Using Recovery Mode
For this method you will be needing a computer. In this computer you will need to install the iTunes software first so we can put the phone into Recovery Mode. Basically this method will reinstall iOS on your device wiping your device data in the process. Below are the steps needed to put your iPhone into recovery mode:
- Connect your iPhone to your computer with an USB cable
- Briefly press and release Volume Up, then Volume Down, then press and hold the power button until the recovery mode screen appears
- You will now get a pop-up in iTunes saying your iPhone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored, go ahead and click OK
- Now iTunes will go ahead and install a fresh iOS copy
And you are done, hopefully this should fix your iPhone now and you should be able to enjoy your phone for a bit more time and if it did not we still have one more method for you.
3. DFU mode
This method is your final resort to fixing your iPhone by yourself. This is an even deeper method to wipe your iPhone clean and install a fresh iOS to fix your phone from any software issues. The steps are basically the same as recovery mode and they are as followed:
- Connect your iPhone to your computer with an USB cable.
- Press the Volume Down and power button together for 10 seconds.
- After that release the power button but keep holding the volume down button until you see the recovery screen.
- You will now get a pop-up in iTunes saying your iPhone is in DFU mode and will ask you to restore, go ahead and click OK
- Now iTunes will go ahead and install a fresh iOS copy wiping your data in the process.
This is it, your iPhone should be fixed by now and you will be able enjoy your iPhone 13 for a few more years. Now if it’s still not fixed yet, there might be some more underlying issue to your iPhone explained below.
Software Issues
Normally most software issues will be fixed by the fixes that we have mentioned above but we will explain the typical software issues here which might have caused the White Screen:
- Failed OS update:
Most of the time this is the case, a new iOS update rolls out and you are excited to update your phone, you click on update and boom your phone turns white. This typically happens when either your update is interrupted or the update does not complete successfully which is why most of the time putting your phone into recovery mode solves it.
- Jailbreak Interruptions:
If you try to jailbreak your iPhone and it gets interrupted then you might face the white screen, logo loop or a black screen spinning wheel.
Hardware Issues
Now these are major issues and you will not be able to diagnose a hardware issue yourself. These can usually be caused by physical damage or just regular wear and tear from regular use for a long time. Below we have listed some common hardware issues:
- Loose screen connection:
If the cable connecting the screen to the motherboard becomes loose or moved a little bit you might face the white screen issue, this is fairly common if you drop your phone often.
- Internal component failure:
The LCD Controller Driver or the integrated circuit may be faulty or the flex cables got disconnected.
